Welcome to the online home of the American Moslem Foundation, a registered charitable (non-profit) foundation in the state of Washington.

The AMF is STRICTLY a NON-POLITICAL organization; it is more a religious and educational institution. The Foundation promotes efforts toward safeguarding the religious identity of the future generation of Muslims through its educational programs and community building activities. We believe that these efforts will contribute toward their success and welfare in their new environment and adds to the diversity of the American Society. We do not receive financial support from the U.S. government or from any source outside the United States; rather, the AMF is entirely sustained by Muslims in America.

The AMF assists American Muslims in preserving their religious heritage and customs, while creating a sense of community amongst followers of Islam in the Puget Sound area.

The AMF was founded in 1988. In early stages of its development it became obvious that we needed concrete Islamic institutions such as all-Muslim cemetery, mosque, and educational center for our community building activities and religious education of our children. Therefore The House of Mercy Project was planned and made a priority for our actions.

The AMF is steadily looking toward the future, with the efforts toward maintaining the cultural identity and promoting social welfare of our children. We have a strong sense of stewardship for the heritage and the religion that we all share. We are all-inclusive, welcoming members and participants without regard to the race, national origin or religious school of thought. However Muslim immigrants in America have diverse ethnic origin, socio-economical, and religious background and therefore hold divergent views about themselves, their new country, and their future. It is obviously very difficult to build a religious community from such a divergent group of people. AMF is therefore focusing its attention toward those Muslims who have the following assumptions:

  • consider themselves to be immigrants and plan to live permanently in the United States or they are Americans by their citizenship,
  • consider Islam to be a progressive religion that is quite compatible with science and technology and rational thinking,
  • would like to remain faithful to Islam and are desirous for their children to keep Islam as their religion,
  • are appreciative of the importance and willing to support the religious community of Muslims and see the significance of such a community for their personal and social lives and upbringing of their children.

We welcome you to discover the American Moslem Foundation and cordially invite you to become a member and a supporter of this needed institution.

Please Note: The American Moslem Foundation does not have the means and resources to provide:

  • Stipend and financial support to Muslim students from overseas to study in America.
  • Matrimonial services to locate husbands or wives for Muslims.
  • Financial support to assist Muslim institutions overseas.
  • Comprehensive statistics of Muslims or Muslim communities in America.
